Enhanced Learning Program for Kindergarten

Learning is not linear. It’s a series of interconnecting experiences and milestones, based around the individual child. Meeting your child where they’re at. At Pelicans, our play-based learning empowers children to make connections. Connections to self, to others and the world around us.

Our Enhanced Learning Program for Kindergarten sets children up for a smooth connection to school

By following the National Early Years Learning Framework, we develop your child’s numeracy, literacy, creativity, self-regulation skills and more. Our early education teachers are focused on strengthening your child’s independence, confidence, and curiosity for learning to successfully transition to school.

With regular checkpoints throughout the year, and practical support for extending learning at home, our team will ensure you feel informed on your child’s learning, development and wellbeing along the way.

Personalised Learning Plans

Our teachers partner with families to create personalised learning plans when your child starts in a program (Nursery, Toddler or Kindergarten programs).

These plans help our team focus on your child’s individual learning needs and the teaching strategies required to achieve them.

Rhythm and Resilience Program

Our Rhythm and Resilience Program, featuring the evidence-based RAMSR Program (Rhythm and Movement for Self-Regulation), developed by Queensland University of Technology, is all about enhancing your child’s mental flexibility, concentration, emotional regulation, memory and much more through music and rhythmic movement.

We are also introducing further support through dedicated self-regulation zones so they have space to reset when needed.

Focus on Friendship

Our Enhanced Learning Program lays the foundation for lifelong social skills so your child understands how to make and manage friendships and connections. Through play-based learning experiences, we help Kindergarten and Preschool children learn how to interact with each other, and early conflict resolution skills to help them navigate feelings in social settings.

School Readiness

Our approach to school readiness ensures your child is well prepared for school and beyond. Through our continued focus on social-emotional skills, independence and self-help skills, oral language development and the foundations for literacy, numeracy and STEM, our team will help your child:

Family Communication

We want all families to be part of their child’s learning, even when they can’t be there in person to see it. Our Xplor platform will keep you up to date with daily room summaries and monthly observations and learning goals for your child.

We also encourage educator-family learning and development discussions throughout the year to review your child’s learning summaries and celebrate their progress over time.

Sustainability Focus

Our programs support connection to nature and citizenship.

Children learn about foundational sustainability concepts including ways we can care for our environment and for each other.

Each centre embeds sustainability in ways that are meaningful to their local centre surroundings and community.

Community Engagement

We strive to help your child feel connected to their community and encourage them to take an active role in community contribution. To do this, we collaborate with local groups including schools, aged-care facilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, local council libraries and emergency services.

We welcome families in centre to celebrate a wide variety of events with children and educators.

Diversity of People and Places

Our country is filled with so many amazing cultures and communities. To foster curiosity, respect and understanding, our program teaches every child to acknowledge the land and celebrate and engage with diversity in their community and country.

Extended hours for busy families

Our families love the flexibility that comes with our extended 9, 10, 11 and 12-hour sessions. Not only does it make life more convenient for them, but it also means their child gets to access the Government’s Kindergarten and Preschool Program and our very own Enhanced Learning Program across a long day care setting.
